I was just wondering.Do you get motorcycle adverts on the TV in the US..
Or adverts on motorcycle safety.Because we DON'T get any adverts for motor cycles we sometime get the odd advert for motorcycle safety but they are on in the very early hours in the morning (WHEN EVERYONE IS ASLEEP)

FT. . we get ads, not safety stuff. Since many people have the option of adding 'cable' stations ( which may/can add a hundred plus stations) that require a paid fee ( as little as $20 --> $50) per month). .the bike companies have a better demographic target. The cable sports channels, for instance, with its heavy male/biking age/ sport oriented audience.. gets the off-road/road-sport adverstisments from the big companies.
The main networks ( the free channels eg: CBS, NBC, ABC, etc) will rarely have an ad from the bike companies. Heavy on the insurance carriers, but rarely a bike ad.
It's been so long since I've watched a main network channel with regularity.. you'll have to take what I say with a grain of salt. Maybe things have changed. WTF. The main biggies suck crap anyway. Speed Channel rules ! ! ( They carry WSB & MotoGp, and such.) :D

the only place i've ever seen a motorcycle commercial (well, two, to be exact) was on the speed channel on two wheel tuesday. that one with the r6 and the guy playing golf - the guy tees off, jumps on his bike and races to the next tee before the ball even hits the ground....
and then the classic "garage improvement" ad with the two bikes and a quad. before. no toys. after. TOYS!
both very clever, but certainly not mainstream. which is bizarre because you'd think with all the motorcycle product placement in movies nowadays (e.g. Irobot, Matrix, Tombraider, Charlie's Angels, etc. etc.) it's clearly becoming more mainstream. go figure. maybe in time.

Just F.Y.I.
Apex Motorsports (www.apexroseville.com) (click it for the link to the website) has 4 commercials on Saturday, and 4 commercials on Sunday on KOVR Channel 13 during the College Basketball confrence games.
The run just about every hour to hour and a half from about 8:30 to 5:30 each day, times aren't exact due the games being "live"
So if you are watching the games, look for our commercials.
I am gonna open the store on Sunday from 12-5 ( normally closed on Sundays) so I will not be riding... :( but I really am hoping for good results from the commercials.
There is also a direct mailer that came out this week from KOVR, and we have a coupon in that as well...I am not expecting as big of results from that but am curious if any of you have seen it??

I think that the major manufacturers are trying to "lay low" with TV advertising. Let's face it - they have enough money to run plenty of TV ads...;)
I think they recognize that the DOT and governments in most countries are already scrutinizing them so carefully, that drawing more attention to sportbikes in a "mainstream" way would not benefit them - or us. They MUST target their advertising to where they KNOW their core audience is at. That's in the magazines, at races, and on specialty programming like SpeedTV. Running a sportbike ad on a "for the masses" TV show wouldn't produce the results they are looking for (in terms of reaching their target audience), and would only raise eyebrows with the aforementioned GOV agencies and politicians.
This is just my best guess...doing marketing and such on a regular basis.:D

Over here BIKE/SCOOTER sales are more than cars.
It would be nice to see bike add on the BOX.
But the way this LABOUR GOVERMENT & POLICE are going the bike test is getting harder & harder to do.VERY ANTI BIKE....
